This project involved a full insurance-related hail damage roof replacement at a residential property in Evanston NW Calgary. The existing asphalt roofing system showed widespread hail impact damage across multiple slopes, including granule displacement, bruising, shingle fractures, ridge cap deterioration, and damage around roof penetrations and venting components. During the assessment, multiple hail strikes were documented throughout the roofing system, including impact damage to field shingles, ridge caps, vent flashings, and accessory components. Several areas also showed lifted or compromised shingle seals consistent with storm exposure and aging acceleration following hail events. The existing roofing system was removed and replaced with a new Malarkey Legacy impact-resistant asphalt shingle system in Storm Grey. New underlayments, starter shingles, ridge components, valleys, drip edge, rake metal, and ventilation accessories were installed as part of the reroof scope to restore full system integrity and improve long-term weather resistance. The property measured approximately 2,030 sq ft across 17 roof facets with a predominant 4/12 pitch.

This job involved maintenance and repair work on a standing seam metal roof in Rutland Park SW Calgary. During cleaning, we found areas along the fascia and roof edge where the sealant had failed and sections were starting to break down, especially around the chimney and transition points. These are common spots where water starts to get in if they’re not kept up. The eavestrough system was cleaned out first to get drainage moving properly again, then we worked through the fascia repairs and re-secured any loose edge details. Sealing was redone around the roof edge and chimney transitions so everything is closed up properly and not relying on old or failed sealant. On maintenance jobs like this, catching these areas early usually prevents bigger issues down the line, especially on metal systems where water tends to track along seams and edges.

This roof was replaced as a full system after the existing shingles were removed down to the wood deck to start clean. Once stripped, the deck was checked and prepped before installing a full Malarkey underlayment system, including ice and water protection at key areas and synthetic underlayment across the remaining surface. The roof was then finished with Malarkey Vista shingles in Silverwood, along with EZ Ridge XT capping to complete the system. All penetrations, including gooseneck vents and roof vents, were reset and flashed properly so everything ties in tight without weak points. Metal work was also redone as part of the install, including new drip edge, rake edge, and valley metal so the system isn’t relying on older materials at transitions. The finished roof came together clean, with consistent layout and alignment across all sections. The Silverwood colour tied in well with surrounding homes while giving the roof a more updated look. On full replacements like this, rebuilding everything as one system avoids issues that come up when new materials are tied into older sections.
